Everyone wants to have good carpet care of their carpet. With the money invested in buying very nice and expensive carpet, then more money spent on carpet padding., and lets not forget about the price of carpet installation.  PFOS (perfluoro octane sulfonate) is an example. It is the main ingredient in Scotchgard products, made by 3M’s,  that research shows to be  POP (persistent organic pollutant). PFOS collects in your body tissue, in animals, and the environment. This carpet spot cleaner ingredient is also suspected to disrupt hormones. 3M has announced that it will discontinue the use of PFOS.

At this point it is believed that Kawasaki disease is linked to some carpet cleaner ingredients. The evidence is limited at this time.

The dangers of cleaning you carpet with spot cleaners or shampooing your carpet can also endanger the health of your child when they are crawling on your carpet that has just been cleaned and dried. The dried residue from the cleaning chemicals can still be left in your carpet even after vacuuming. When your toddler crawls on the floor, they inhale the residue and they use their hands when crawling on the floor and end up putting their hands in their mouth.
